The CBI on Wednesday filed in the CBI court closure report qua accused in the case of burning of two Dalit children in Sunperh village of Faridabad district in 2015.

Defence counsel SPS Parmar and Abhishek Singh Rana said it had been their contention that all 11 accused in the case were not involved in the case. They said the CBI had already filed closure report against a juvenile in the case.

They said the complainants could not prove the accused as guilty as their clients had not entered the house on the day of the incident. They said the witnesses produced by the complainants had failed to corroborate their statements.

They said it was proven in court that the complainants, who were involved in murder cases, had filed counter-case against the accused. They said forensic reports of laboratories in Karnal, Delhi and Hyderabad were in favour of the accused.

The case dates back to October 20, 2015, when two children were burnt to death in Sunperh village. The victims were a nine-month-old girl and a two-and-a-half-year-old boy. Twelve persons were arrested in the case. They were identified as Adal Singh Rawat, Desh Raj, Naunihal, Joginder, Jagat, Aman, Akash, Balwant, Sanjay, Dharam Singh, Kartar and a juvenile. They later got bail in the absence of any chargesheet.

The attack on the Dalit family was linked to the murder of three members of the Rajput community on October 5, 2014.

Jitender Kumar, the victims’ father, had reported that people belonging to the Rajput community barged into their house at 3 am, poured petrol through a window inside the room where he, his wife and their two children were sleeping and set it ablaze. — TNS
