“It is a privilege that the important historical site is under my division. The site is not only important from Sikh history perspective, but is also a place of national importance,” said Joshi.

Rohtash Singh Kharb, Deputy Commissioner, Yamunanagar, said the construction of the road from Bhagwanpur to Lohgarh was in progress and would be completed within four months.

He said the state government had released Rs 1 crore for the overall development of Bhagwanpur village, under whose jurisdiction Lohgarh was.

He said Rs 1.63 crore had also been released for the development of a community center and parking area near Nav Durga Mandir.

Paramjeet Singh, member of the Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Heritage Development Foundation, said the foundation had also started the construction of a Gurdwara, an exhibition hall and living rooms near the Lohgarh Fort.

Gagandeep Singh, DDPO-cum-Coordinator of the Lohgarh Development Project, said Lohgarh Khalsa Rajdhani came into limelight after the visit of Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar in 2016. Thereafter, the developmental works were started to promote tourism of the historical site.

He said Baba Banda Singh Bahadur declared Lohgarh as Khalsa Rajdhani in 1710.
