Ambala areas still marooned

Two days after incessant rain stopped, several pockets of Ambala remained marooned on Thursday. The district administration said the situation would be back to normal shortly.
The worst affected were the BBMB and HVPN residential areas, office complexes, rest house, 220-KV power substation and surrounding areas.
Residents of areas in knee-deep waters were rescued with the help of boats and tractor-trolleys. Drainage operations were on at the time of filing of this report. The SDMs of affected areas visited the flooded areas to take stock of the situation.
The BBMB and HVPN complexes in Dhulkot and their surrounding areas were inundated. A number of booster pumps were being used to drain water.
Officials supervising operations said low-lying areas were flooded due to the incessant downpour for almost a week and non-existent drainage.
Several residents who had been evacuated claimed that their household articles and other valuable were left in their flooded houses.
4 hurt in roof collapse
Rewari: Four members of a family, two of them children, were injured when a portion of the roof of an under-construction house collapsed reportedly due to torrential rain in Aasra village on Thursday. The injured persons were taken to a government health centre in Bawal, from where they were referred to a trauma centre in Rewari. They were said to be out of danger. tns
