The Haryana Day state-level festival ‘Ratnawali’ began at Kurukshetra University (KU) on Saturday.
Minister of State for Jal Shakti and Ambala MP Rattan Lal Kataria inaugurated the festival on Haryanvi culture.
“Ratnwali is the pride of Haryana and it has been successfully able to mark its presence across the world. The festival has given a new identity to the Haryanvi culture and people wait for this festival as it gives a glimpse of the rich Haryanvi culture and folklore,” Kataria said in his inaugural address. Earlier, he also visited the Haryanvi Shilp Gram exhibition.
KU Vice Chancellor KC Sharma said, “Ratnawali started with nearly 300 students participating in eight disciplines in 1985 but it has turned into a mega event now. This year, more than 2,000 students are participating in 30 disciplines. We aspire to make it a student-centric festival and it has been an attempt to preserve the rich culture of the state.”
The university has introduced two new events (Haryanvi choreography and Shilp Gram exhibition) in this year’s edition of the festival. The festival will conclude on November 5.
