Karnal, April 1
A private company has missed another deadline in constructing the buildings of nursing and physiotherapy colleges on the premises of the proposed Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya University of Health Sciences in the district’s Kutail village.
The construction was to be completed by mid-February.
The plan was to start the classes for BSc nursing and BSc physiotherapy in the new buildings in mid-February. But incomplete work forced the authorities to extend the deadline to March.
At present, the classes for BSc nursing and BSc physiotherapy are being conducted in the building of the Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College and Hospital (KCGMCH).
It seems college buildings will take another one month to be handed over to the KCGMCH authorities.
A team of the KCGMCH had visited the sites last week and found the work incomplete. “We were hopeful that the two buildings would be constructed by March-end. But that was not to be. Now, we are expecting that the buildings will be handed over to us by April and the classes would commence on the new premises in May,” said Dr Surinder Kashyap, Director, KCGMCH.
The state government had decided to begin the academic session of BSc nursing and BSc physiotherapy from 2018. So, a temporary arrangement was made on the premises of the KCGMCH. B Sc nursing has an intake of 40 students and B Sc physiotherapy has an intake of 30 students.
