Dr SK Kalia assumed the charge of DIG-Ludhiana range today. Earlier, Dr Kalia was posted as SSP, Vigilance Bureau, in the economic offence wing (EOW) in Jalandhar.
He replaced AK Mittal. Mittal remained as the DIG, Ludhiana, for two months only and now has been shifted to the Punjab Police Academy (PPA), Phillaur.
Soon after taking charge, Dr Kalia conducted a meeting with the staff.
He is not new to the city and has served as the Superintendent of Police (SP-Investigation) in 2009 and was behind the busting of several snatchers and robbers’ gangs.
Soon after taking charge Dr Kalia said he would strive for building a better police - public coordination.
He appealed to the residents to contact the police about anti- social elements and their activities.
Besides, special focus would be laid on solving pending cases, he said. Dr Kalia said emphasis would be laid on solving traffic problems Jagraon, Khanna and Fathegarh Sahib.
