Governor urged to start new faculties at agricultural university in Jammu

The Teaching Association of the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu today urged Governor NN Vohra to open new faculties and divisions in the varsity, besides a special financial package for early completion of institution’s auditorium at Chatha.

The deputation led association president Dr Vikas Sharma met the Governor, who is also the Chancellor of the university, at Raj Bhawan here today.

The deputation apprised the Governor about the demands relating to the opening of new faculties and divisions in the university, including the College of Dairy Technology and College of Agricultural Engineering; grant of a special financial package for the early completion of the varsity auditorium at Chatha campus; early restoration of university’s infrastructure that was destroyed in the September 2014 floods and certain other demands relating to the welfare of the teaching community and university’s overall development.

The Governor assured the delegation that their demands would be addressed and advised the association to continuously strive for achieving excellence in teaching and research, and ensure dissemination of latest technologies among the farmers to enable them to improve productivity in agriculture and its allied sectors.
