Wynberg Allen is inter-school basketball champ

Wynberg Allen School, Mussoorie, has defeated Shigally Hills School, Dehradun, to lift the Inter-School Basketball Trophy for 2015.
In the final match of the invitational inter-school tournament, organised by the Wynberg-Allen School, Mussoorie, the host school defeated the visiting team 29-13.

dominated the final match from the start and scored a number of baskets for their team. On the other hand, Sangay, Deepti and Chavi of Shigally hills tried their best to defend the basket post but could not succeed against the Wynberg Allen strikers.
Earlier in the day, Wynberg Allen defeated Waverly Convent, Mussoorie, in the first semi finals with a score of 26-6 to reach the finals.
In the second semi finals, Shigally Hills defeated Jaswant Modern School, Dehradun, 21-20 in a tough match.
In other matches played during the weekend, Wynberg Allen reached the semi finals by defeating GNFC 30-5. Shigally Hills defeated Woodstock School 20-6. Jaswant Modern School defeated St Thomas College, Dehradun, 29-18. Waverly Convent, Mussoorie, defeated Ecole Globale, Dehradun, 13-11. Mayuri of Woodstock School, Divya of St Thomas College and Soumya Pant of Jaswant Modern School, Bhavika Vij and Rumana of Waverly Convent scored a number of baskets for their teams.
Principal Tindale gave away trophies and certificates to players of both the teams.
In his address, he thanked the students and principals of various schools for participating in the tournament. He also thanked various officiating referees and basketball coach Akash Negi for successfully organising the tournament.
Ajay Kelli, Neeraj Nautiyal, Bharat Negi, Davendra Prasad, Champa Dhakpa, Anil Choudhary, Jagmohan Negi, Manju Hatwal and a number of other officials were present for the final match.
MAMS clinch football trophy
- Maa Anandmayee Memorial School (MAMS), Raiwala, won the Inter-School Under-14 Football Tournament organised by the Principals' Progressive Schools' Association (PPSA) at Pestle Weed College in Dehradun on Sunday.
- MAMS beat St Kabeer Academy in the final match 3-0 with the help of a brilliant hat-trick by Anuj Panwar. Anuj was also adjudged the player of the tournament.
- Chief guest Prem Kashyap, president of the PPSA and chairman of Pestle Weed College, gave away the prizes.
- Arpit Panjwani, director of MAMS, congratulated coach Amit Das and the players for their outstanding performance and encouraged them to continue with the performance in the forthcoming tournaments.— TNS
