Vanamahotsava celebrated
SDP Senior Secondary School, Hazuri Road, celebrated vanamahotsava with enthusiasm. Saplings were planted to sensitise students about the environmental conservation. Students planted different varieties of plants such as Jasmine, Crape, Rangoon Creepers, English Rose. Students took a pledge to adopt plants and water them regularly.
Cancer seminar
Atam Devki Niketan organised a seminar on cancer awareness by NGO ‘Can Fight Cancer’. Dr Kunal Jain, an oncologist, DMCH, created awareness among the students about the cause of cancer and preventive measures to prevent cancer. The queries of students were also answered by him.
Teej celebration
Teej was celebrated at ABC Montessori School with fun and fervour. Girls were dressed up as Punjabi mutiars in sparkling red, blue, green and yellow salwar kameez looked dazzling queens and boys as Punjabi gabroos. Children enjoyed sewiyaan and malpura-kheer to uplift their festive mood. The kids were looking nice in their traditional attires and school wore a festive look. Yellow and Orange Marigold flowers, colorful balloons green plants transformed the school into a lovely teej garden. A mela was organised which gave kids peek into the rich Punjabi culture. Stalls of Bangles, games, Henna and eatables added spice to the celebration. Girls swing on decorated swings and adorn their hands and feet with intricate mehndi designs.
Punjabi songs reverberated the campus as the little ones jived on peppy numbers. Bhangra and giddha were also performed. Kirat and Vaanya were declared as teej queens.
Singing competition
An inter-house solo and group singing competition for Classes VI-XII was organised at GGN Public School, Rose Garden, today. Budding singers of the school mesmerised the audience with their melodious voice. In group A, Om Kumar and in Group B Gurleen Kaur, both of HSN House bagged the first position. In Group C, Prabhkiran Kaur of APS House won the first position.
In group singing competition, students sang patriotic songs dedicated to the freedom fighters and evoked patriotic feelings among everyone. Overall winner of the singing competition was HSN House whereas APS House emerged as first runner-up. It was fascinating to witness all the four houses put up magnificent performances. Director Principal Karnail Singh applauded the remarkable performances of the budding singers and gave away certificates to the winners.
Investiture
An investiture ceremony for the school cabinet was conducted at BCM School, Basant City. Principal Amarjyoti Chawla administered the oath of newly appointed cabinet members. Head Boy and Head Girl led the march past. Captains, vice-captains along with prefects also took oath and pledged to carry out their responsibilities in all earnestness with integrity. Various Yogasanas were also performed by the students.
Rainy day
Amid scorching summer heat the first shower of monsoon marked the rainy day at ABC Montessori School, BRS Nagar, with fun and fervour. Students enjoyed the rain dance on rocking music. They had their whole world in the first shower of monsoon. Colorful balls and balloons raised their excitement. All the little ones dressed in their Raincoats, Gumboots and Umbrellas relished tasty mouth watering sizzling samosas, peppy pakodas and mixed fruit punches.
MUN conference
Sat Paul Mittal School has stepped into a new and incredible era to work towards its vision of providing an excellent forum to students to set forth their views and transform themselves into empowered leaders of tomorrow. The school will organise Model United Nations (MUN) Conference from 7 August, 2015 to 9 August, 2015 to engage young people to understand the working of the United Nations Organization. It is an initiative to build empathetic and conscious global citizens.
Exhibition
Sri Guru Hargobind Public Senior Secondary School, Thakkarwal, organised creative minds exhibition on various projects. It was inaugurated by the chairman of the school, Major (Retd) G.S. Ahluwalia and director Manjit Singh Walia. The students of pre-primary, primary and senior wings of the school displayed their creative, scientific and aesthetic talent by showing innovative and brilliant projects on 13 subjects of English, Hindi, Punjabi, maths, science, social science, art and craft, music, divinity, GK, computer science and physical education.
Workshop held
Around 50 teachers attended the workshop on Maths at Nankana Sahib Public School, Gill Park. The motive behind the workshop was to encourage and make maths favourite of students at primary level. Resource person Sandeep Gulia gave useful tips on teacher enhancement through experiential learning. It was an interactive session, activities which can be done in primary classes in play way methods were done and discussed. Gulia answered all the queries asked by teachers and teachers discussed about the problems which they face in class room.
Sharing day
Sacred Heart Convent School, Machhiwara, celebrated sharing day. Students brought note books, pencils and other school articles to share with the poor and needy. Principal Flower Therese said such activities are helpful to understand the difficulties of the downtrodden and appreciated the students who shared things with the poor children.
Trip organised
Brats n Cuties organized a trip to Belfrance. The students explored the kitchen area and met the chef and they learnt about cakes and chocolates. Kids enjoyed the trip and enjoyed having muffins and chocolates.— TNS
