Udhampur Army Public School clinch top spots in sports festival

A week-long sports festival organised by the J&K Police, Udhampur district, concluded here.

The police had organised the sporting event, Udhampur Olympics, under its civic action programme. Various games such as volleyball, badminton, handball, kho-kho, cricket besides athletic events were conducted for the under-14, under-19 and open categories.

Army Public School (APS), Udhampur, clinched top positions in different disciplines. In badminton, Anushka Roy bagged top honours in the U-14 girls’ category while Anvi Dixit emerged victorious in 100 m sprint, 200 m and relay race. Shamsher Singh came first in the long jump and 4 x 100 m relay race in U-19 boys’ category.

The prize distribution ceremony was conducted at Sher-I-Kashmir Police Academy auditorium. SP Vaid, Director General of Police, who was the chief guest, awarded medals to the winners.

Army Public School, Udhampur, topped the medals tally by winning 20 gold medals, four silver and 22 bronze medals. School principal Sanjeev Kumar congratulated all winners and teachers for bringing laurels to the school.
