To counter Sena, Sikh leaders gather at Beas
Amritsar, May 25
Various Sikh leaders today gathered near Beas despite the fact that the Shiv Sena had already called off its “Lalkar” rally three days ago.
Sikh hardliners, including parallel “Jathedars” Dhian Singh Mand and Amrik Singh Ajnala, assembled near the Beas bridge. A heavy police force was deployed. Mand said Lalkar rally was allegedly sponsored by the ruling SAD-BJP alliance and other communal forces. They sent a memorandum to Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki demanding action against the activists who tried to “disturb” peace in the state.

Sena leader’s son held
Jalandhar: The district police on Wednesday arrested Deepak Kamboj, son of Shiv Sena leader Vinay Jalandhari, from the Civil Hospital. He was accused of faking an attack on himself on February 16 seeking enhanced security cover. A few days before the attack, he had applied for additional security cover and the police had provided him additional gunmen with an escort vehicle. — TNS
