Teja Singh Swatantar School, Shimlapuri, faced a little challenge from RS Model Senior Secondary School, Shastri Nagar, before romping home winners in the girl’s section on the second day of the 6th Junior Ludhiana District Baseball Championship being held at Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Model Town, here today.

The final turned out to be a one-sided affair in which Teja Singh Swatantar School girls stamped their superiority and wrapped it up quite easily 9-2 to lift the title. Pooja and Sonia were the star performers for the winning side. They scored two runs each to enable their team to clinch the winners’ trophy.

In the match for the hard-line cup, Government Senior Secondary School, Kum Kalan, defeated Government Senior Secondary School, Gill, 6-2 to secure the third place. For the winners, Gurdeep and Simranpreet accounted for two runs each.

Today’s proceedings were affected due to rain and the matches in the boy’s section will now be played tommorow.
