TEEJ CELEBRATIONS
Ludhiana: Teej was celebrated at Green Land Senior Secondary Public School to commemorate the advent of monsoon. Students came dressed in traditional Punjabi outfits, colourful along with traditional Punjabi ornaments. They performed giddha and danced on the tunes of folk songs. They were served delicacies and Punjabi cuisine.
GURU NANAK PUBLIC SCHOOL
The kindergarten section of Guru Nanak Public School, Model Town Extension, participated in Teej celebrations. Students came dressed in colourful attires. The titles, ‘Saawan Queen’ and ‘Saawan King’ were adjudged from among Nursery, LKG and UKG. Students danced on the tunes of Punjabi songs and enjoyed swings which were decorated with multi-coloured flowers. They performed giddha and bhangra. Various activities related to Teej were held for students.
INVESTITURE
Investiture was held at Nankana Sahib Public School, Gill Park. The function began with shabad recitation. The newly appointed office-bearers and member of the council were inducted about their responsibilities and sashes were coferred on them.
ONE-ACT PLAY
A innter-house English one-act play competition was held at Bal Bharati Public School which sensitised them about various issues prevailing in the society. Mars House presented a play, ‘Poor thing: energy’ which highlighted the need for conservation of energy. All abiotic sources such as energy, hydrosphere, atmosphere and lithosphere were shown as animated characters. Mercury House presented a play which condemned the ritual of sacrificing animals in the name of God. Venus House highlighted the theme of brotherhood through their play, ‘Unity in diversity’. Earth House threw light on the problems faced by a dyslexic child. The plays were adjudged on the basis of stage performance, dialogue delivery and the message conveyed. Principal Punam Dogra congratulated the winners.
Kitchen visit
A visit to kitchen of a fast food restaurant was organised by Maple Bear Canadian Pre- School, Udham Singh Nagar. Students came in chef caps and learnt about the hygiene and art involved in baking. The master chef of the restaurant advised the students to wash their hands before and after taking meals. —TNS
