Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today announced sub-division status for Bhawanigarh, which at present is a sub-tehsil, and the setting up of Government Degree College for girls at Bhawanigarh.

He also announced a development grant of Rs 5 crore for the villages located in Sangrur Assembly constituency and a grant of Rs 40 lakh for Jhanerri village.

These announcements were made by Sukhbir while addressing a rally after inaugurating a gaushala at Jhanerri village, constructed on 25 acres given by the Jhanerri village panchayat.

Earlier, he inaugurated PRTC’s bus stand at Sangrur, a meritorious school near Ghabdan village (Bhawanigarh) and four-lane national highway project near Sangrur.

Sukhbir reminded the people that with the efforts of the SAD-BJP government, a PGI satellite centre (near Ghabdan) was being set up.

Sukhbir said all deputy commissioners in the state had been instructed to ensure that forms of all families in the villages that did not have LPG connections should be got filled in the next 15 days.
