A special training programme for the newly elected Zila Panchayat members was held at the Zila Panchayat hall here today. Administrative and Zila Panchayat senior officials imparted training to 47 members of the Zila Panchayat board.
Majority of the members have been elected for the first time. Fifty per cent seats were reserved for women candidates in the ZP elections. The training programme was aimed at giving first-hand information about working of the ZP, its powers, periphery of work, various projects and plans.
Zila Panchayat chairperson Savita Chaudhary said the training sessions were quite fruitful.
Most of the women members do not have any political background so the training programme was quite handy.
Vice-chairperson Rao Affaq Ali said after amendments in the ZP schemes, such training capsules were quite useful for all members to better know of their rights and work.
Chief Development Officer Sonika said the training module had been made in such a way that in a short period of time, members were aware of the basic functioning of the ZP board.
