International basketball player from Kapurthala Sajjan Singh Cheema joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) here today.
He was welcomed in the party by its Punjab affairs in charge Sanjay Singh, state convener Sucha Singh Chhotepur and party’s Punjab co-convener Durgesh Pathak.
Cheema hails from Dabulian village in Kapurthala and is a national record holder basketball player. He represented India four times. Cheema served as an SSP with the Punjab Police. He was posted with the anti-riot unit at the Punjab Armed Police, Jalandhar, before he took voluntary retirement around a month ago to join politics.
