Rs 23 cr for Daulatpur-Talwara broad gauge released

Union Railway Ministry has released a sum of Rs 23.75 crores for laying the Daulatpur Chowk to Talwara section broad gauge rail line. Lok Sabha MP Anurag Thakur said in a press release issued here today that another sum of Rs 4.95 crores had been released by the Railways for undertaking various civil works at the Amb railway station.
The 84-km-long Nangal to Talwara, via Una broad gauge line is being laid for the last about 45 years. While the track between Nangal to Amb-Andaura via Una is functional, the work on the Amb-Andaura to Daulatpur Chowk section in Una district is underway. However, work on the last rail track section, which will connect Daulatpur Chowk with Talwara in Punjab is yet to begin.
The MP said he had taken up the issue of speeding up the work on the track with Union Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu and Minister of State for Railways, Manoj Sinha recently, resulting in the release of funds. He said the survey work for laying the Daulatpur Chowk to Talwara section will be completed within four months.
Anurag said the boundary wall and other civil works for beefing up the facilities for passengers at the Amb-Andaura railway station will be completed with the sanctioned amount of Rs 4.95 lakhs. He said the 27-km-long Una to Amb-Andaura rail section was being electrified, adding that extension of trains to Una and Amb-Andaura, which are presently terminating at Nangal is also under consideration at the Ministry.
