Ludhiana: Road Safety Week began at Guru Nanak International Public School, Model Town, on Friday. The aim was to sensitise the students on the need of following traffic rules and safe driving on roads so as to avoid violation of road safety rules. Various class activities like slogan writing and poster making on road safety were conducted for students of primary and middle wing. Senior students took out a road safety rally in Model Town market holding a variety of banners, posters and placards related to road safety measures. Students dispersed in the market to educate the commuters about the need and importance of safe road travel.

Nakal Virodhi Abhiyan

Students of NM Jain Model Senior Secondary School, Bharat Nagar, started an awareness campaign against copying. Management and principal of the school inaugurated the campaign by holding a rally which started from school through Bharat Nagar Chowk and culminating in school. Disclosing this, Principal Davinder Kumar Rehan said teachers and children of the school took part in the inauguration of 'Nakal Virodhi Abhiyan'. He said the objective of the campaign was to generate awareness against copying. He added approximately 150 students and teachers took part in the rally.

Brown Day

Brown Day was celebrated at Ryan International School, Dugri. Students of Montessori-I class took part in paper folding activity by using brown and golden paper to make Cadbury Éclairs, Montessori-II did pasting and thumb printing to make chocolate ice-cream cones and Montessori -III made chocolate cakes by doing paper pasting and then used sparkles to garnish the cakes. The students were shown things of brown colour to make them aware of brown colour. Headmistress of the school Ritu Syal said: "I believe for the proper physical growth and mental development of students they should have proper knowledge of their environment." — TNS
