Races mark Wynberg-Allen School founder’s day

Various events and races were organised during the 128th founder’s day celebrations of Wynberg-Allen School, Mussoorie, today.
Basant Rathore, senior vice-president, Planning Brand and Business Development at Jagran Group and an alumnus of the school, and Shikha Rathore inaugurated the function at the Kirbly Lang auditorium in the presence of alumni, parents and staff of the school.
Principal L. Tindale welcomed the members of the board of management, the alumni, parents and the guests present on the occasion. After the opening prayer, school students along with staff and former students sang the hymn ‘Standing on the promises of God my king’. Thereafter, the junior school choir presented their hymn ‘Carry Your Candle’. The senior school choir presented the hymn ‘You are holy’.
School captain Ojaswi Khemani led the school in the school pledge. Following that Basant Rathore told the students to make the most of it while they are in the school and remembered the days spent here.
The founder’s day cake was cut in the presence of his wife Shikha Rathore. After the closing prayer by Rev Cornelius, the service ended with the singing of the school song and the national anthem.
Subsequently, a ‘swimming gala’ was conducted in the Allen School pool. Various races were the main attraction of the gala event. Spectators enjoyed the races such as umbrella race, double tag race, spoon ball race, triple tag race, fins relay, pull buoy relay, all 4 x 25 m and many others but what thrilled them the most was the 4 x 25 m pyjama relay race. Zorammawii, Supanuch, Shania O’Conner, Bhanu Pratap, Leon, Akarsh, Garvit and Namya displayed their skills in the pool. At the end of the relay, Basant gave away mementos to the swimmers. The principal thanked the students for their enthusiastic participation, especially in the swimming event. The celebration concluded with a fancy fair in the evening and bumper prizes.
