Priyanka, Simran shine in PMET

The result of the Punjab Pre-Medical Entrance Test (PMET) for admission to medical colleges was declared this evening.

Priyanka Taneja from the city secured the 23rd rank in the test. Having secured 436 All India Rank, she plans to take the test for the second phase of NEET. She is yet to finalise from where she would do her MBBS. Her preference as of now is Maulana Azad Insitute, Delhi or Goverment Medical College, Chandigarh.

She did her Class XII from BCM Arya Model School, Shastri Nagar, securing 90 per cent marks. Daughter of a Chartered Accountant Inderjeet Taneja and chemistry school teacher Anju Taneja, she aspires to become a doctor.

She wants to become a cardiologist. Regarding preparation for the test, she used to spend six to eight hours a day. She says positive attitude during the preparation of the exam is very important.

Simran Sachdeva secured 24th rank. She secured 57th All India Rank in AIIMS test. Daughter of Dr GP Sachdeva, a psychiatrist and Dr Harleen Sachdeva, Simran, wants to become a neurologist or a neuro surgeon. She secured 97.4 per cent marks in Class XII in Sacred Heart Convent School, Sarabha Nagar. Regular studies and coaching classes helped her clinch the rank. There is no shortcut to success, she says and adds that she used to study consistently for as many as eight hours daily.

Other students from the city have also done well in the test. Chetan Goyal secured 63rd rank. Raghav Grover who secured 72nd rank in JIPMER entrance exam, secured 66th rank in the Punjab PMET. Deepinder Kaur secured 78th rank and Tanya Kad secured 100 th rank.

Raghav said he would pursue his MBBS from JIPMER. Son of businesspersons Mahinder Grover and Kiran Grover, he wants to become a neurologist.

Deepinder Kaur, who secured 331st rank in the AIIMS test wants to become a heart surgeon. She would decide about the institute after taking the second phase of NEET.

Tanya plans to pursue MBBS from Dayanand Medical College and Hospital, from where her sister has already completed her MBBS and is doing an internship presently. Her father, Parminder Kad, is an engineer and mother Anju is a housewife.

Kanvi gets 71st rank in Punjab PMET

Khanna: Kanvi Sharma got 71 rank among as many as 14,700 aspirants for MBBS admissions, who appeared in the Punjab PMET on June 11. She also got 572 rank among as many as 2 lakh aspirants who took the AIl India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) test on May 29. These ranks will enable her get admission in AIIMS colleges in India and Government colleges in Punjab. Kanvi’s father, Professor KK Sharma, expressed happiness over success of his daughter and said she achieved the result by hard work.
