Dehradun, November 25

The three-day Pindar Ghati festival concluded yesterday with Chief Minister Harish Rawat addressing a gathering in Chamoli.

Rawat said such festivals proved beneficial in keeping traditions alive and giving an opportunity to local residents to earn a livelihood. He said the state was committed to raising the economic standard of the people and providing jobs to the youth. “We have set before us a target of ensuring a turnout of around 30 lakh to Rs 40 lakh for the Char Dham Yatra in 2017,” he added.

He said the government had taken several steps to provide financial assistance to needy persons by enhancing social pension. — TNS
