The Prof AN Chakrabarty Memorial Prize-2016 award is presented every year for the best published research paper in the field of mycobacteriology from all over India.
Dr Sharma was given this award for her research paper titled “rpoB gene high-resolution melt curve analysis: a rapid approach for diagnosis and screening of drug resistance in tuberculous meningitis” published in Diagnostic Microbiology and Infectious Disease in October 2015. This work evaluated the role of real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) using rpoB, IS6110, and MPB64 as targets in diagnosis of tuberculosis meningitis, a severe and potentially fatal form of brain tuberculosis, and subsequent high-resolution melt (HRM) curve analysis of rpoB gene amplicons for screening of drug resistance. — TNS
