Haridwar, November 17

The Pauri Garhwal team won the two-day state-level Wushu championship held here yesterday. The championship was organised by the Wushu District Association of Haridwar.

Pauri Garhwal players won 22 gold medals followed by Udham Singh Nagar with 14 gold medals.

As many as 15 teams from across the state including Tehri Garhwal, Rudraprayag, Dehradun, Champawat, Pithoragarh, Almora, Nainital, Bageshwar, Uttarkashi and Chamoli took part in the championship.

Teams from Indian Air Force and Central Police Forces like Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Border Security Force (BSF) also participated in the championship.

Organising committee member and Wushu coach Arti Saini said a high level skill performance was demonstrated by players. The martial art form sport is gaining popularity in the hill state, Saini said.
