Panchkula, January 11
Panchkula is all set to have a city map on the lines of the UT now. These maps would not just be fixed at the entry and exit points but the Administration is planning to make them available at certain public places as well.
The Deputy Commissioner has orderedthe Haryana UrbanDevelopment Authority (HUDA) to have an overview of the city on the map, besides the sectoral guide maps.
“I have asked officials to have a city map on the pattern of Chandigarh at the entry points like that at the housing board towards Sector 16/17 road in order to guide visitors,” said Deputy Commissioner Vivek Atray.
After a round was taken by the DC and finding that the sectoral guide maps were totally disfigured, the HUDA and MC officials were ordered to put fresh ones.
At present, all guide maps in the city are in a bad shape and have not been replaced for over 15 years.
When asked about as to why the guide maps had still not been changed, HUDA Executive Engineer Preet Mohan, he said: “We have floated tenders and they would changed soon. Guide maps of other sectors, apart from Sectors 5 and 1, are with the MC.”
The Additional Deputy Commissioner, SP Arora, who is also theCommissioner of Municipal Corporation, he said: “HUDA will first make a design of the city mapand the sectoral maps. Once it is ready, theMC will accordingly follow the same.”
