Chandigarh, November 10

Naresh Badgujar and Bhupender Dahiya upset second seed pair of Nishant Dabas and Sarthak Suden in the final set super tie-break to clinch the boys' doubles title in the CLTA-AITA Super Series Tennis Tournament at the CLTA Complex, Sector 10, here today.

The Haryana pair of Naresh and Bhupender after losing the first set 2-6 to their Delhi counterparts bounced back to draw level with a 6-4 win in the next set. 

In the decider, both teams played aggressively and tried to outperform the other. However, it was the Haryana duo which maintained its composure to seal the set and the match in the super tie-break.

After being tied at 10-all, Naresh and Bhupender clinched the next two games to win the set 12-10.   

In the girls' doubles, top seeds Prinkle Singh and Kaavya Sawhney had an easy outing against third seeds Rutuparna Choudhary and Harleen Kaur, clinching the title with a 7-5 6-2 win in the final. 

Meanwhile, in the boys U-16 singles, Shashikant Rajput upset third seed Sarthak Suden of Delhi in a marathon three setter to enter the championship final.

Sarthak after leading the first set 5-3 lost four consecutive games to handover the advantage to Shashikant.  

He, however, produced some quality play in the next set to draw parity.

In the decider, Shashikant broke Sarthak's serve in seventh game and held his own in the next to lead 5-3. Sarthak though fought back to make it 5-5, before Shashikant put all his experience to close the set and the match 7-5 4-6 7-5 in three hours and thirty minutes. Shashikant will play Naresh Badgujar in the final.  

Naresh overcame practice partner Bhupender Dahiya 3-6 6-1 6-1 to sail into the final.

In girls U-16 singles semifinals, top seed Prinkle Singh drubbed Rutupama Chaudhary 6-4 6-2, while Kavya Sawhney defeated Smriti Singh 6-4 6-3 to advance to the final stage of the tournament.

The finals will be played at the CLTA Complex tomorrow.

Boys’ doubles final: Naresh Badgujar/ Bhupendra Dahiya bt Nishant Dabas/Sarthak Suden 2-6 6-4 12-10

Girls’ doubles final: Kaavya Sawhney/Prinkle Singh bt Rutuparna Choudhary/Harleen Kaur 7-5 6-2
