Panchkula: Unlike previous years, the Mata Mansa Devi temple has not received any foreign currency in the first two days of the Navratra fair. The use of Paytm further reduced on Wednesday as just Rs 210 were received via the mobile application. However, 91,000 devotees visited the temple on Wednesday while 12,000 visited the Kali Mata temple in Kalka.
A sum of Rs 12.41 lakh was received in cash while nine gold and 85 silver ornaments were donated at the Mata Mansa Devi temple. At the Kalka temple, Rs 3.80 lakh in cash was received in donations, along with two gold and 73 silver ornaments.
Starting Tuesday, ministers and other VVIPs are visiting the temple, which is causing inconvenience to the public. As people wait in long queues, the VVIP and their families are taken to the sanctum sanctorum alone and they not only visit the temple but also a part of the rituals, which takes a lot of time.
While VIP passes are not issued anymore, the culture does not seem to end. While Kanwar Pal, Speaker Haryana Vidhan Sabha, visited the temple in the morning, Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Administrator V P Singh Badnore came in the evening yesterday.
On Wednesday, Haryana Education Minister Ram Bilas Sharma visited the Mansa Devi temple with his family while Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar is scheduled to visit the temple tomorrow. — TNS
