LABOUR DAY CELEBRATIONS
Ludhiana: Decent School celebrated the Labour Day by taking students to the Labour Mandi, Tajpur Road. They questioned the labourers about hardships faced by them. Students gifted towels and bathing bars to the labourers.
BVM (USN)
The Labour Day celebration at Bhartiya Vidya Mandir (BVM) Senior Secondary School (USN) was aimed at making students aware of the importance of manual labour. Students stepped into the shoes of their helpers. Students of classes X and XI voluntarily performed different duties on the campus. Latika Ahuja, a senior teacher, gave the welcome speech. Handmade greeting cards, flowers and sweets were offered to the labourers. Principal Bandana Sethi lauded the services offered by the helpers towards the institution.
MANAV RACHNA INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL
Manav Rachna International School celebrated the Labour Day. Students of Grade VII organised morning assembly, to which members of the support staff were special invitees. Students explained the history and significance of the day and presented a song. A quiz was also conducted by them. A student recited a Punjabi poem praising the labourers. Students gifted cards to the helpers.
GURU NANAK INTERNATIONAL PUBLIC SCHOOL
The Labour Day celebration at Guru Nanak International Public School, Model Town, commenced with a prayer, followed by a poem and a speech by Hargungeet Singh and Anureet Kaur, respectively. A group song was presented by the students. Lunch was also organised. Principal Gurmant Kaur Gill talked about the importance of the day and the contribution of workers.
BVM, KITCHLU NAGAR
Bhartiya Vidiya Mandir Senior Secondary School, Kitchlu Nagar, celebrated the Labour Day by organising a soft board decoration competition on theme, ‘we salute our labour’. Talent hunt, poster-making, card-making and essay-writing competitions were also held. Principal Neelam Mittar congratulated the workers and thanked them for their contribution.
Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School, Jalalpur
Mandi Gobindgarh: Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School, Jalalpur, celebrated the Labour Day. Students sang the welcome song and delivered speeches on the role of workers in school. The history of Labour Day celebration was also told. A play depicting child labour was performed. The management and principal expressed their gratitude towards the workers.
INVESTITURE
Green Land Convent School, New Subhash Nagar, held its investiture. Principal Jyoti conferred badges and sashes on the newly elected council members. Gursimran Singh of Class XII – non medical and Manpreet of Class XII- medical were appointed Head Boy and Head Girl.
CLASSROOMS OF FUTURE
A workshop, ‘classrooms of the future’, was conducted at DCM Presidency School to educate teachers about role of technology. Bibhuti Sinha and Brijesh from Microsoft, told how technology could help in giving attention to every pupil. Principal Nupur Nutan said the teachers should use more technology in their regular classrooms.
POSTER-MAKING COMPETITION
Ram Lal Bhasin Public School, Dugri, conducted a poster-making competition on the theme, ‘save earth’. Students of classes VI to XII participated. Principal Raman Oberoi motivated the students to plant more trees.
INSTALLATION CEREMONY
Drishti Dr RC Jain Innovative Public School held its installation ceremony presided over by vice president Ravinder Jain. Newly appointed council members were awarded badges and sashes. Mehul Jain of Class XII - science and Nimarjot Kaur Class XI- arts were selected as president and secretary of the council, respectively.
GGN PUBLIC SCHOOL
Gujranwala Guru Nanak (GGN) Public school, Rose Garden, conducted its investiture for the session 2016-2017. The newly elected members of the School Council were endowed with badges and sashes. Harveen Kaur was appointed Captain. Tamanna Mattu and Preetkamal Singh were appointed vice- captains. Damanpreet Singh and Tejvir Singh were appointed sports captain and sports vice captain, respectively.
GUJARAT SHOW
Sat Paul Mittal School organised a talent show to depict Gujarat culture. Students of Class I recited a prayer. A play based on culture and famous personalities of Gujrat was performed. A song was performed to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi.
ANTI-ToBACCO RALLY
Guru Nanak International Public School, I-Block, BRS Nagar, organised an ‘anti-tobacco’ rally Students spoke slogans and held banners and hoardings depicting slogans about the ill effects of tobacco and other drugs.
PRIZE-DISTRIBUTION function
Kundan Vidya Mandir held its prize distribution. The chief guest of the day was VK Goyal, Chairman of managing committee and treasurer of the Shri Kundan Lal Trust. Headmistress Namita Raj Singh shared her motivated the students to work hard. —TNS
