First things first; starting with the good things about Punjabi film Main Teri Tu Mera - directed by Ksshitij Chaudhary, starring Roshan Prince, Mankirat Aulakh, Mannat Singh, Karamjit Anmol, Yamini Malhotra, Jazz Sodhi and Anita Devgan
Director Ksshitij Chaudhary has executed the ‘available’ story well, highlighting the old- world charm of Punjab, which in a way has become ‘the’ thing with the Punjabi movies. The detailing of the art department is almost ‘near perfect’ (well as they say there is nothing like perfection). Main Teri Tu Mera has exceptionally nice music as well.
And now for the not-so-appealing things of the film, which might outnumber the pluses! Firstly, the story, written by Pali Bhupinder, although deals with an interesting concept, it is stretched beyond a sustainable limit. The film has plenty of interesting dialogues, the credit for which again goes to Pali. Main Teri Tu Mera begins with a lot of zing, but as time passes by the film begins to lose steam. In fact, the whole marriage thing starts to weigh heavy on the mind. The director has tried to keep the story going, nevertheless it lacks pace. The characters in the film are well-etched, each one melting in their role like ghee!
The film is seemingly lengthy, so much so that you crave for an interval, which just doesn’t seem to come! The film catches pace after the interval, generating interest, only to fall back into the stretched like a chewing gum pattern!
Next up are the actors — each one has done a ‘near’ perfect job. Starting with the innocent-looking, pretty-likeable Amru — played by singer-actor Roshan Prince. Roshan has done complete justice to his character. A thumbs-up for Karamjit Anmol; this actor has one of the best comic timing in the Punjabi film industry. He gives many fun moments. Singer Mankirat Aulakh makes his debut; he will sail through if only he doesn’t forget to throw in some expressions here and there, raise his volume a bit. Mannat Singh, a feisty actress who has given a superb performance in the film, knows exactly where to raise her tempo and where to be subtle. Yamini Malhotra, who also makes her debut with Main Teri Tu Mera, speaks in a seductive manner till the director realised that coming back from Canada can also mean being normal. Jazz Sodhi, a pretty face with much scope. Anita Devgan is a charming actress that you cannot miss!
Main Teri Tu Mera also raises the issue of women infertility, but it is rather treated shabbily. Main Teri Tu Mera is certainly a good watch, as long as you watch the watch!
