Tribune Model School, Sector 29, Chandigarh, held an interactive session with parents of students studying in Classes I to X. The session was conducted by renowned pakhawaj player Sukhad Manik Munde from Pune. He urged the parents to lead a disciplined life. The need to instill high moral values among children by parents was the focus of the interaction. All parents assured to follow the tips given to them.

Orientation programme

St John’s High School, Chandigarh, organised an orientation programme for parents of the kindergarten wing children. Principal Kavita Das welcomed the parents on behalf of the school management and the staff. Das gave a brief outline of the achievements of the school, its policies, infrastructure and the facilities provided to the students. The junior school coordinator explained the teaching methodology and techniques. Parents had a separate interaction with teachers of the kindergarten wing.

Saksham excels in skating

Saksham Bansal, a student of Class IX at Bhavan Vidyalaya in Chandigarh brought laurels to the school by excelling in skating at the national level. He was recently felicitated by UT Administrator and the Punjab and Haryana Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki at a state-level function organised by the Sports and Youth Affairs Department, Haryana. Saksham was awarded a cash prize of Rs 50,000 for his achievements in 2012-13. He was also awarded with a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh and Rs 50,000 for the good show in roller skating in 2014-15.

World Health Day observed

World Health Day was observed by the staff and students of the Government Model High School, Sector 34, on the theme of diabetes. The students made charts and delivered speeches spreading awareness about the day. Some of the students performed yoga. Dr Vinod Sharma, head of the school, said the use of pesticides and insecticides was affecting the health of people. A poster-making competition was also held for Classes VI to X. Three best posters from each class were selected and students were given appreciation certificates. — TNS
