Declamation contest
Ludhiana: An inter-school declamation competition was held at SDP Senior Secondary School in Ludhiana. Students from 25 schools participated in the competition. Asish Kumar, deputy district officer, was the chief guest on the occasion. The winners were awarded prizes.
Athletics meet
The annual athletic meet of the kindergarten and the primary section kicked off on a vibrant note at BCM Arya. The meet was declared open by chief guest Lt Col Ranjit R Nair. The chief guest took salute from the marching contingents of the primary section followed by a torch lighting ceremony by the shining sports stars who have brought laurels to the school. Principal Dr Paramjit Kaur, through her address to the gathering, highlighted the role of sports for the holistic development of a child. A dance medley showing the importance of education, stress management and games was the highlight of the day.
Students given send-off
The faculty and students of Class XI of Guru Nanak International Public School, Model Town, gave a warm send off to Class XII students on Monday. Director P Kahlon and principal Gurmant Kaur Gill were accorded a hearty welcome. Class XI students presented a cultural bonanza of songs, dances, games and other items on the occasion. The farewell party got off to a start with ‘Shabad Gayan’ to seek blessings of God for a prosperous future of the outgoing students. Simranpreet Kaur and Harleen Kaur of Class XI, in their welcome address, expressed their gratitude towards their seniors. The ramp walk held was the highlight of the day. More than 140 students walked down the ramp in dazzling outfits.
Story enacting contest
To inculcate the habit of story reading and story enacting, a competition was organised at Green Grove Public School. President JPS Jolly, chairperson Satinderjeet Kaur Jolly, along with principal George were present on the occasion. Stories such as ‘Chimta’, ‘Cindrella’, ‘Mr Sun Takes a Holiday’, ‘Birbal ki Khicdi’ and ‘Rumplestillskin’ among others took the audience into a different world.
Farewell function
Students of Class XI of Blossoms Convent School bade farewell to the students of Class XII. They organised a cultural programme and presented gifts to the teachers. Jeevanjot Singh and Gursharan Kaur won the ‘Mr BCS’ and ‘Miss BCS’ titles respectively, whereas Madhav Bansal and Jasnoor Kaur were the first runner-up and Kunwardeep Singh and Ravneet Kaur were the second runner-up. The principal and the management conveyed their good wishes to the students.
Tagore International
Tagore International Senior Secondary School, Sahnewal, gave a farewell party to the students of Class XII. The Class XI students, with the help of teachers and the principal, organised different activities on the occasion. The director of the school, BK Aneja, encouraged the students and extended their best wishes.
Workshop on fire safety
A workshop on the use of fire extinguishers was conducted at BCM School, Dugri, for van drivers and class IV employees of the school. Mr Ashok Kumar of Rajindra Fire Services conducted the session. He highlighted many of the reasons like negligence of people, short circuits, gas leakage and explosion in labs. He suggested the use of fire extinguishers is a very effective manner in rescue operations. School principal Dr Vandna Shahi conveyed the message to be very careful while dealing with fire equipment.
Special assembly
Green Land Convent School, New Subhash Nagar, Ludhiana, paid obeisance to Guru Ravidas ji on his birth anniversary. A special assembly was conducted in which the school choir sang shabad. Principal Jyoti Pujara paid floral tributes to Guru Ravidas Ji. In this special assembly the various Sahodaya winners of different competitions were awarded medals and trophies by the principal. — TNS
