Former Akali MP Tur dead

Former SAD Lok Sabha Member Tarlochan Singh Tur passed away today at his Amritsar residence and was cremated at his native village Tur, 15 km from here with full state honours.
Born on February 15, 1947, the deceased represented Tarn Taran Lok Sabha constituency thrice — 1985, 1998 and 1999.
Jathedar Mohan Singh Tur, father of Tarlochan Singh remained the SAD chief for many years. The party contested the Lok Sabha seat after the Emergency under the leadership of Mohan Singh Tur.
Tur as survived by his son and a daughter. His son, Harbhajan Singh, lit the pyre when his daughter who is settled in USA failed to reach here today.
The deceased left the SAD in 2004 when he was denied Lok Sabha ticket and joined the Amm Admi Party (APP) last year. The state convener of the AAP, Sucha Singh Chhotepur, was his close relative.
Those who laid wreaths include MLA Ravinder Singh Brahmpura, Sucha Singh Chhotepur and Sub-divisional Magistrate Ravinder Singh.
CM mourns death
Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal mourned the demise of the former member of parliament.
