For development, vote BSP to power, says Jagir Singh

City BSP president Jagir Singh who is contesting from Ward No. 7 (Maloya and west of Sector 39), is an early riser. 

He woke up at 4.15 am. After prayers, he did some exercise to gear up for the day-long hectic schedule. It was at 6.45 am and he along with a friend reached Maloya to hold secret early meetings with some key people of his ward. It was a closed-door meeting.

At 8.15 am, he reached the rear side of his residence. For breakfast, they had aalo and gobhi parantha with curd and butter. He quickly finished his breakfast and was ready to perform his dual responsibility of a party president and that of a candidate. 

Fulfilling the responsibility of the party president, he decided to visit different wards of his party candidates, who are also contesting the MC poll. First he went to Ram Darbar, from where BSP candidate Brijpal (Ward No. 23) is contesting. There Chandigarh BSP in-charge Ram Gopal Jatav also joined him. Both Jagir Singh and Jatav discussed poll scenario with Brijpal and boosted his morale. 

Next, it was the turn of Ward No. 24. Both Jagir Singh and Jatav visited house of BSP candidate Shiv Kumar and held discussion with him regarding the election campaigning in Mauli Jagran. Both leaders also met party workers in Mauli Jagran. 

Thereafter at 11.15 am, both reached Mani Majra (Ward No. 26) from where another BSP candidate Net Ram is contesting. After taking tea and biscuits, both leaders directed the BSP workers to ensure maximum polling on December 18 from their ‘strong’ areas in BSP’s favour. Then Jatav went for some other work and BSP president Jagir Singh left for Bapu Dham Colony to meet BSP candidate Mohd Zahid Sikandar (Ward No. 19). After a brief halt at Sikandar’s office, Jagir Singh finally drove down to his Ward No. 7. 

At 12.30 pm, he reached his election office in Maloya, where key members of his team were waiting for him. Among them was Harnek Sing Bhari, a retired employee, who showed a diary to Jagir Singh, in which key details of voters were there. A group of youngsters also met Jagir Singh and submitted that there was no playground for them. 

Then his next task was start door-to-door campaigning in Gwala Colony of Maloya. There were no roads and sewage was flowing on “kuccha” roads. Jagir Singh’s supporters were already waiting for him for the campaigning. 

He spent nearly two hours in the colony and interacted with different sections of society, who complained lack of basic amenities in the colony. The residents were complaining that political parties had neglected them for years. After assuring them all-around development of the colony, if they voted for him, Jagir Singh left for Maloya village. 

It was 2.45 pm and he met his relatives at Maloya village, who had prepared lunch for his team. 

In the village, he spent two hours and later in the Maloya colony he spent nearly two and half hours on door-to-door campaigning. He appealed to the voters to give a chance to the BSP so that they could bring about development in the city. 

Finally, at 9 pm he once again come back to his office and began holding meeting with his core team to discuss issues related with polling booth and election agents. They also discussed arrangements of the BSP rally in Maloya tomorrow. The door to door campaigning came to an end in Sector 33-A at around 3 pm and then Chawla left for his office. After finalising the evening programme, he went to his house and took some rest. 

In the evening, he addressed two public meetings in the government houses of Sector 33, wherein he assured the residents that he would make this ward the number 1 ward in the city. 

After the two meetings, he again went to his election office in Sector 20, where he held meeting with his core team members to review the day’s campaigning and to finalise tomorrow’s campaigning schedule.
