First CM Nityanand Swami remembered

Kaptan Singh Solanki, Governor of Haryana eulogized the stellar role played by Nityanand Swami, the first Chief Minister of Uttarakhand for cleaner politics in the country. Speaking at the 87th birth anniversary of Nityanand Swami organised by the Shri Nityanand Swami Jan Sewa Samiti, Solanki said the first Chief Minister showed the younger generation the higher ideals of clean politics.
He said Nityanand Swami was not only a simple man but a great parliamentarian and an able administrator who remained clean in his public life.
Nityanand Swami was the first Chief Minister of the state after it was carved out of mother state of Uttar Pradesh on November 9, 2000. Earlier, he was the chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Parishad.
Former Chief Minister and Haridwar MP Ramesh Poklhriyal Nishank recalled his long association with Nityanand as a political leader who was above controversies. Former Uttarakhand Assembly Speaker Parkash Pant also recalled his association with Swami and how he gained parliamentary knowledge during his tenure as Chief Minister.
Uttarakhand Assembly Speaker Govind Singh Kunjwal said Nityanand Swami was a tall leader of the state who pursued clean politics from his student days. Haryana Governor Solanki gave away Nityanand Swami awards to eminent personalities on the occasion.
