The Solang valley, lying to the north of Manali town, has become a biggest tourist attraction as hundreds of tourists from all over the country made a beeline at the week-end to enjoy snow.

A festive atmosphere prevailed in Solang valley as tourists were seen enjoying the snow, making snow man and having their photos clicked.

Snow at Solang has proved a blessing for hundreds of people surrounding of the Manali region, who have been associated with the tourism industry.

A number of small shops have come up at different places in the upper Manali areas, offering snow shoes, woolen garments and snow dresses for the tourists. This has also become a source of livelihood for hundreds of local residents of the surrounding villages.

Solang Ropeway and Ski Centre at Solang valley has also become a major attraction with hundreds of tourists thronging every day. The ropeway connects the main ski slopes to the top of Phatru from where tourists can enjoy the extensive view of the surrounding snow-covered peaks. These days, Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports, Manali, is also conducting different skiing courses at the ski slope of Solang valley.
