Facile victories for PAU, PU in hockey

Ludhiana, February 15

Hosts Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, along with Panjab University, Chandigarh, and Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, logged facile victories in their respective matches while continuing their winning streak on the third day of the North Zone Inter-Varsity Hockey Tournament for Men here today.

Teams from all the major universities of the north zone are taking part in the week-long tournament being held at Prithipal Singh Memorial AstroTurf Stadium of the PAU.

In the first match of the day, the PAU romped home victorious against the MJP University, Rohilkhand, 12-0. In the second match, Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh, recorded victory in a similar fashion (12-0). The PU team routed Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna University, Garhwal.

The third match was played between Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, and Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla, in which the former came out winners without being challenged, 9-0.

In the last match of the day, Maharishi Dayanand University, Rohtak, faced a little resistance from Delhi University, Delhi, before wrapping it up 4-1.
