Hot, sumptuous chicken stuffed with feta cheese, parsley and garlic, set on the skewer amongst mixed bell peppers with sauce dripping — yes, Espetada Carnival is back at Nando’s. The South African Casual Dine Restaurant that serves ‘healthy’ food has brought back Espetada on popular demand, only this time as a meal.
Designer drink, choice of two sides and Espetada — a Portuguese dish — tender flame grilled chicken thighs cooked in Peri Peri sauce makes for a hearty, healthy course. “We had done Espetada before and people loved it. On popular demand we have rolled out this 45-day carnival,” says Daljit Bhasin, operations manager, Nando’s.
While the side dishes menu has expanded, they have also added designer drinks. Mango sangria is the one to be served with the meal at Espetada Carnival.
While taste is one, quality another, its wholesome food that makes Nando’s a hit with its regulars. Prabhdeep Chadha, co-director at Elante venture, explains, “In one of the trips to London, my dad and me absolutely loved eating at Nando’s; it was only a few years later that we got the brand to this part of the country.”
Amongst the Nando’s fans are the cricketers who don’t forget to order their staples on their visits to the city. “It’s also a hit with our patrons for they can totally customise their food - right from choice of ingredients to how it’s done and choose Peri Peri right from mild to very hot.”
Well, since eating healthy is on the agenda of most of us, give it a try. The Espetada Carnival is on for the next 45 days and comes at Rs 650 a meal plus taxes.
