Khanna, January 27
Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal addressed a gathering in support of Ranjit Singh Talwandi, Akali Dal-BJP candidate from Khanna, at grain market here today.
The Deputy Chief Minister told the masses that if Talwandi won the election, he would be made a minister after the alliance came into power.
He recounted welfare schemes launched by the Akali Dal-BJP govt. and cautioned the people against the Congress and AAP. He said if the development process was to be continued, it was needed that the alliance comes into power again.
He said the Congress and AAP were anti-people and the SAD was the only party which fought for the rights of state’s residents. He said AAP had failed to solve problems of Delhi residents and the Congress had little count of achievements during their regime in the state.
He said Talwandi, even after losing the last elections, continued to pay his attention towards the development of the area and had played a vital role in the big development works carried out in the, including the setting up of the office of ADC at Khanna.
He claimed that the Akali Dal-BJP alliance would win with a big margin in the state and would form government for the third time in a row.
Talwandi assured the gathering that he would work with full force for the development of the area. Former MP Sukhdev Singh Libra and other local leaders were present.
Ludhiana: Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal seems to be leaving no stone unturned in wooing voters. In the past few days, he has frequently visited the district, campaigning for both — SAD and the BJP candidates. Sukhbir Badal, while addressing the masses in the Khanna constituency on Friday, said if Ranjit Singh Talwandi, SAD-BJP candidate from Khanna, won the elections, he would make sure that a ministerial berth was reserved for the latter. Sukhbir Badal had made a similar statement a few days ago while canvassing for Parveen Bansal, BJP candidate from the Ludhiana-North constituency. He had praised Bansal for being in touch with the public. He claimed that if people in the constituency voted for Bansal, he would talk to the BJP for giving Bansal a ministerial rank. — TNS
