Dogra Sadar Sabha demands stop to ‘Darbar Move’

The 111th annual general council of the Dogra Sadar Sabha, J&K, was held under the chairmanship of Gulchain Singh Charak, president of the sabha, here today.

The proceedings of the meeting were started with lighting of lamp by the dignitaries and followed by a welcome song presented by the artistes of the Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan. Thereafter, Prem Sagar Gupta, general secretary of the sabha, read out the minutes of the general council, which was confirmed unanimously.

Gulchain Singh Charak explained various achievements of the sabha.

The stopping of wasteful exercise of the “Darbar Move” involving a huge financial burden on the state exchequer and numerous other problems of the state were among the various resolutions which were passed in the council.

It was resolved that cultural heritage of Duggar Pradesh needs to be preserved by way of starting a full-fledged “Duggar Channel” claiming that the Central Government has already agreed to consider this demand.

It was also unanimously resolved that the state government be approached to conserve and restore the heritage sites of the city.

The enhancement of the remuneration of numberdars and chowkidars was also highlighted in the meeting and the government was urged to fulfil the promises made to them.

The House also resolved to send delegations to meet the Central and the state government for a detail discussion in this regards.
