Srinagar, April 19

The J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages and Radio Kashmir organised an interactive session with film-maker Bashir Budgami under its monthly programme — Naamvar — here today.

“When I made Habba Khatoon and Rasul Mir, I had a team which worked out of passion, not for money. The current breed of film-makers apparently lacks the required passion. We must focus on social issues. Only then our work will find ready acceptance among people,” Budgami said.

Former Chief Information Commissioner GR Sufi was the guest of honour at the event, which began with rendition of ghazals by Raja Bilal and party. The session was presided over by broadcaster Rafiq Raaz.

Academy deputy secretary Syed Shakeel-ur-Rehman said the organisation along with Radio Kashmir was exploring possibility of hosting interactions at school and college levels to broaden the canvas of the programme. — TNS
