Colony residents hold protest against demolition drive in city

Chandigarh, December 9

The CPI(ML) Liberation and the Ghar Adhikar Sangharsh Morcha today took out a protest march to the UT Adviser’s office demanding that the ongoing demolition drive started by the Chandigarh Administration,during the winter season be halted.

A large number of residents of Sanjay Colony, including women and Children, joined the protest march. The residents were shouting slogans against the Chandigarh Administration and the Central Government for not fulfilling the promise of giving house to all.

A five-member delegation lead by Comrade Kanwaljeet Singh of CPI(ML) Liberation and Sachinder Pal Pali of Ghar Adhikar Sangharsh Morcha, met the adviser and placed the demands along with a copy of Supreme Court’s decision wherein the apex court has instructed all the state and UTs to protect the poor homeless people from dying in cold and not to demolish their shelters during winter season.

They claimed that as assurance was given top them by the Adviser.
