Abohar, December 9

Eleven teachers of different government schools were pulled up by Education Minister Daljit Singh Cheema as they approached him seeking transfers of their choice. Cheema was on a visit to console the families of teachers killed in a road mishap on the Abohar-Fazilka-Ferozepur road this morning.

The minister regretted that the teachers who were carrying applications seeking transfers were completely insensitive over the demise of their colleagues. He asked the DPI to issue show-cause notices to the erring teachers since service rules forbid them from approaching the minister for transfers. The minister minced no words in warning them that suitable disciplinary action would be taken against them.

Cheema visited Kala Tibba village to mourn demise of Ram Pal. He then met the relatives of Manohar Lal at Subhash Nagar cremation ground and of Bindiya at Sant Nagar here.

Vehicle was unregistered, owner can’t claim damages

Muktsar: The owner of ill-fated Force Cruiser vehicle, which collided head-on with a truck in Fazilka district today, may not get any insurance claim. The vehicle was purchased from an automobile dealer in Malout about four months ago, but it was still bearing a temporary registration number PB 30 H (T) 7600.
