CHANDIGARH:Chandigarh Polytechnic College defeated Thapar Polytechnic College, Patiala, in an exciting final to bag the gold medal in Inter-Polytechnic State Basketball Tournament, held at Chandigarh University, here today.

Chandigarh, February 28

Chandigarh Polytechnic College defeated Thapar Polytechnic College, Patiala, in an exciting final to bag the gold medal in Inter-Polytechnic State Basketball Tournament, held at Chandigarh University, here today.

In the final, Chandigarh Polytechnic College dominated the first half with accurate passing and board shots. At the end of the first half, CPC were leading 22-14. 

Thapar University strongly fought back and narrowed the lead in the second half. 

Thapar University played exceptionally well in the final round and levelled the scores at the end of the match.

During the extra time, Chandigarh Polytechnic College’s captain Nishant Sharma played remarkably well and helped team to lift the State Basketball Championship trophy. 

In the bronze medal play off, Government Polytechnic College, Bathinda, thrashed Government Polytechnic College, Moga, 47-24, to bag the third position in the tournament.

Lovepreet Singh of Government Polytechnic College, Bathinda, was adjudged the best player of the tournament while the captain of Chandigarh Polytechnic College, Nishant Kumar, was declared top scorer of the tournament.
