A dilapidated bridge on the Mandakini river at Rambara, en route to the Kedarnath shrine, will soon be replaced. A team of the Bengal Engineering Group (BEG), Roorkee, today arrived for this special operation at Rambara.

The old Rambara bridge, which suffered a huge damage due to snowfall this season, will be replaced by a fixed bridge (class 3). The work will be carried out by a team of 14 engineers from BEG.

The Uttarkashi-based Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM) has been involved in the reconstruction work in the flash flood-affected Mandakini valley for the past one year.

NIM media coordinator Manoj Semwal said the BEG team comprised a JCO and 13 other officials. “We have started constructing an embankment for the new bridge,” he said.
