Former CPS and INLD leader Ram Pal Majra has blamed the BJP and the Congress for the sufferings of the farmers.
Majra today alleged the parties were anti-farmer and anti-poor. The Congress during its regime cheated the farmers by acquiring their lands at unreasonable rates, he said.
The non-functional Hansi -Butana canal constructed at a cost of Rs 280 crore was a glaring example of the wasteful expenditure.
The BJP has failed to implement the Swaminathan Commission report and did not give remunerative prices for agriculture produce to the farmers who faced crisis when they were forced to sell their paddy and other crops at low rates. He said the farmers who suffered crop loss due to the untimely rains, hailstorms and other reasons were still waiting for the compensation but the government seemed least interested in dispensing that too.
