Union Minister for Rural Development Birender Singh will file his nomination papers for Rajya Sabha tomorrow.
His name figures in the list of 12 candidates released by the BJP today for the Rajya Sabha seats falling vacant in various states. The party has not yet announced the name of the second candidate from Haryana since two seats currentlyccupied by Union Ministers Suresh Prabhu and Birender Singh are falling vacant in August.
The party, according to sources, is waiting for the INLD to take a decision. The state INLD unit has authorised its supremo, Om Prakash Chautala, to take a decision in this regard. The party may announce its decision by tomorrow, sources said. Sources indicated that the INLD was unlikely to field any candidate since it did not have the required number of MLAs. The party has already hinted there was no possibility of coordination with the Congress in this regard. If the INLD does not field a candidate, it will tantamount to indirect support to the ruling party which will comfortably win both seats with the backing of 21 MLAs for the second seat after 31 of its members vote for Birender Singh.
