Dalhousie, June 3
Army Commander, Western Command, Lt Gen K J Singh, AVSM, presided over the installation ceremony of the ‘T-55 Russian Origin Battle Tank’ at the Dalhousie Public School as a war trophy. Perhaps, it is the highest location of a battle tank in Himachal Pradesh.
The Army Commander arrived by helicopter and drove straight to the school. Director and Principal Dr (Capt) GS Dhillon, along with staff and students, extended a warm welcome to the chief guest while the school band played “sare jahan se acchha hindustan hamara”.
He said efforts were afoot to have a naval representation by placing a ship alongside the other war trophies. This spot presents a spectacular view with the giant tricolour fluttering in the backdrop of a MIG-21 Fighter Aircraft, Surface to Air Pichora Missiles and the T-55 Battle Tank.
