New Delhi, March 2
The Akhil Bharatiya Jat Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti (ABJASS), spearheading the Jat quota stir, today gave a call for “March to Delhi” on March 20 to “gherao" Parliament and to hold dharnas on the Delhi border, blocking all highways, to press for the demands of Haryana Jats.
The decision to step up the stir was taken at the “Jat nyay dharna” here which was attended by members from Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. A memorandum was submitted to President Pranab Mukherjee.
As the protesters, gathered at Jantar Mantar, marched towards Parliament House, they were stopped midway by the police. Led by ABJASS chief Yashpal Malik, they courted arrest.

Malik accused the Centre and the Haryana Government of being “insensitive” to the community’s demands.
“The Haryana Government had accepted our demands on February 22, March 18 and June 18 last year, but has not acted on these so far,” he said.
He asked Jats to reach Delhi on March 20 with ration and logistic support “for a long-drawn struggle”. "If stopped, pitch your tents there and stage a dharna,” he said.
