The library at the railway station speaks volumes about the apathy of officials.

The library remains locked. Earlier, the library was in the old building, but then it was shifted to platform number 1. The room was locked as there were no caretakers.

The railway officials have been looking for a person who could maintain the library.

Passengers often ask the officials to open the room, but the officials express helplessness saying they don’t know where the keys are.

“Hindi Pustakalaya has been written outside the room. Visitors keep asking about the place. We don’t know where the keys are,” said an employee.

Paramjeet Singh, activist, Northern Railwaymen’s Union, said, “The room at platform number 1 remains locked. The officials should open the library.”

Ravinder Sharma, Station Superintendent, said, “There is nobody to look after the library. We are looking for the right person.”
