Akshay Kumar talks about his journey into Bollywood and his fitness mantras
On his journey
When I entered into the glamorous world of Bollywood, I had no choice but to have my own identity. I had to make sure I could carry a film through.
In my early days as an actor, I had no choice. I did all the films that came by way, including B as well as C grades.
I had to prove myself as an actor. Slowly, thanks to my dedication, things slowly started changing and filmmakers started showing their faith in me.
Favourite shopping hotspots
I basically shop whenever I am on shoot. I don’t really have a favourite place to shop from, it’s not like I’ll say hey! let me pack my bag and head to Spain for shopping. Unlike me, Twinkle takes exactly three seconds in a shop to choose clothes, she’s so quick.
Twinkle’s humour
When you have a wife who has such a great sense of humour there is entertainment and laughter in the house. Twinkle’s sense of humour is what makes our relationship grow stronger. Hamara mushkil samay bhi hanste-khelte nikal jata hai (Even the difficult times pass with laughter and joy). Have you heard the song, Haste haste kat jaye raste, zindagi yun hi chalti rahe, that’s how it is for us.
Fitness mantra
Despite working out for the past 32 years, I still only have a six-pack and nothing more. You need to be patient when it comes to getting results in fitness. There’s no way you can take a short-cut. People must respect their bodies and not abuse it. The important thing is, control your diet. Your last meal of the day should be at 6.30 to 7 pm. I’m also a believer in going green and fresh. I completely avoid eating food that has been made in a lab. Eat stuff like brown rice, walnuts, drink milk and have almonds.
