She then went on singing several other popular numbers to the audience. She said she had come to the city after about seven years and was happy to be here again.

Some of her fans kept pouring her with requests of their favourite numbers. Seeing a lukewarm response, the singer kept asking the audience to cheer more than once saying the zest that the Punjabis were known for seemed missing.

She said she was still inspired by the songs of Lata Mangeshkar and was her fan, adding that classical music would remain the base of any kind of music and it was important to learn classical singing. She said several songs were more like noise these days, and don’t last long because the melody and real music was missing leaving youngsters also confused about what actual music was. “That is why, they get bored, but the older songs last generations,” she said.
